Advent
Advent, is a church season that includes the first 4 Sundays before Christmas. It marks the beginning of the ecclesiastical year and starts on the Sunday nearest November 30th, the Feast of St. Andrew. The term “Advent” comes from the Latin word “adventus”, which means a coming. The Advent season reminds Christians of the coming of Jesus Christ. Church liturgy speaks of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem as the first Advent and His return in glory on the day of judgment as the second Advent. Many Christians observe Advent as a solemn season of preparation for Christmas. Advent liturgy emphasizes repentance mingled with hope.
Let us make this Advent Season special to each of us personally because we can see the signs of Jesus second coming very clearly. If Jesus was to appear Christmas Sunday morning in the rapture, how many of us would be prepared?
The question of the hour might be, “What should wise preparation for Christmas include?”

Sonshine Club
Our November Sonshine Club was held Tuesday, November 18th at 11:30 AM. We had 68 in attendance on this cold, snowy, windy day. This was an excellent witness for so many that are elderly. Some great plans are developing for our December 16th Sonshine Club. Be sure to come and bring a friend or tell them about this Christian fellowship.
Christmas For All by Rev. J. Harvey Dixon
The miracle of Christmas
that happened long ago,
Is just as real today
and God wants the world to know.
To Shepherds on the hillside
and wise men from afar
God is still sending angels
and searching hearts, a star.
T’will be a humble setting
when you find God’s dear Son
What peace and great glory,
when you meet this special One.
Holy Humor
No one believes seniors...everyone thinks they are senile.
An elderly couple were celebrating their sixtieth anniversary. The couple had married as childhood sweethearts and had moved back to their old neighborhood after they retired.
Holding hands they walked back to their old school. It was not locked so they entered and found the old desk they’d shared where Andy had carved “I love you, Sally.”
On their way back home, a bag of money fell out of an armored truck, practically landing at their feet. Sally quickly picked it up, but not sure what to do with it, they took it home. There, she counted the money - fifth-thousand dollars.
Andy said, “We’ve got to give it back.”
Sally said, “Finders keepers.” She put the money back in the bag and hid it in their attic.
The next day, two FBI men were canvassing the neighborhood looking for the money and knocked on the door.
“Pardon me, but did either of you find a bag that fell out of an armored truck yesterday?” Sally said, “No.”
Andy said, “She’s lying. She hid it up in the attic.”
Sally said, “Don’t believe him, he’s getting senile.”
The agents turn to Andy and began to question him.
One said “Tell us the story from the beginning.”
Andy said, “Well, when Sally and I were walking home from school yesterday...”
The FBI guy turns to his partner and says, “We’re outta here.”
WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
