Where are you banking spiritually?
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21)
Good banking of one’s spiritual assets is not only wise but commanded of the Lord.
Poor investment of spiritual assets can bankrupt the soul. Jesus was very clear in the Sermon on the Mount that we should be careful not to lay up treasures for ourselves upon the earth. There are at least two dangers here. First, earthly treasures are insecure. Moth and rust may consume these and sometimes thieves break in and steal them. Acts of nature like fire, flood and storms also can destroy these treasures.
Second, earthly treasures sometimes enslave the heart. They influence character and lead to divers temptations. When our purpose and priority in life is to glorify God, the Holy Spirit gives guidance to the investment of earthly treasures. However, heavenly investments pays divine dividends in classic treasures. Jesus said in Matthew 6:20 “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven..” Heavenly treasures are secure and gives a heavenly pull on our hearts. Matthew 6:21 “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” As the face of the sunflower follows the sun, so the heart of man follows where his treasure is.

Food for thought
Joseph P. Dooley said, “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a gift to be enjoyed. If you think you are too small to do big things, try doing small things in a big way.”
Edwin Keith said, “Prayer is exhaling the spirit of man and inhaling the spirit of God.”
You and I have never tested God’s resources until we have attempted the impossible.
People who fly into a rage normally have a crash landing.
Witnessing
We need to be a good Christian witness... a man was brought before a judge who asked him if he had a lawyer for his defense. He said he could not afford one. The judge told him he would assign a lawyer as his legal council. “Well, Judge,” the man replied, “I thank you for offering to get me a lawyer, but what I really need right now is a good witness.”
Bishop Gerald Kennedy once said, “We shall not make many converts by being good lawyers for the Lord, arguing a logical case to it’s conclusion. We need to tell what Jesus means to us.”
Holy Humor
I am sure the brightness in little boys comes from their fathers. For example: After Sunday School, little Johnnie asked his father what kind of lights did Noah’s ark have... without hesitation his father said, “I am sure they were flood lights.”
Another bright little boy told his mother he got 100 today. His mother said, “Tell me about it”. “Well,” said the little fellow, “I got 50 in spelling, 30 in history and 20 in English.”
I guess the economy is having a tough effect on our auto sales market. Did you see in the paper “For Sale - 1929 Model A Ford - take over payments.”
One of my girlfriends jilted me when I told her about my rich uncle... now she’s my aunt.
Happy New Year!
We all like new things.. a new house, a new car, new clothes, etc. We may not be able to afford many new things but God has given us a “New Year”. This is God’s gift to us. How we use it is our gift to God.
